Hispanic market estimated
at $458 billion
According to a recent study
released by the Association of Hispanic
Advertising Agencies, the Hispanic market has an
estimated $458 billion in spending power.
Among U.S. Hispanics 16 years of age and older,
38% are using the Internet on a regular basis.
The study defined the
typical Hispanic Internet user as 28 years old,
slightly more likely to be male, and unmarried.
About half are Spanish-speaking language dominant.
The study also found that respondents are online
almost five-and-one-half hours per week, 71%
using home computers.
In addition, the typical
user also watches 18 hours of TV per week - 50%
of it in Spanish - and listens to 15 hours of
radio, also in Spanish, per week.
And from another source, Idiom Technologies
notes that 43 percent f today's Web users are non-English
speaking; and over the next few years, Internet
use is expected to grow by 79% in Asia, 123% in
Latin America, and over 2000% in Japan.
